From an initial endowment of about 10,000 volumes in the early 1920s, the LIBRARY now houses a collection of more than 70,000 books available for reading and to members, for borrowing. Dating from the 16th century to the present, the collection includes American works in literature, philosophy, history, art, social sciences and international relations. Members also have access to prestigious online databases, through which they can download books, full text articles from thousands of journals and magazines, as well as all sorts of bibliographical information. An international loan service offers the possibility of consulting the collective catalogue of American libraries and borrow books from them, as well as obtaining photocopies from more than 60 million volumes.
The ARCHIVE holds more than 190 folders and files related to the foundation of the Associazione Italo-American (from the ‘20s) and the next Centro di Studi americani (from 1936). It includes the correspondence and documents related to the scientific, educational and administrative activities of the Institute.
It has been recognized as of national-historical interest by the Ministero dei Beni Culturali.
The computerize inventory of the archival units is a work in progress.
