Library and Archives

Library

From an initial endowment of about 10,000 volumes in the early 1920s, the LIBRARY now houses a collection of more than 50,000 books available for reading and borrowing to its members. Dating from the 16th century to the present, our collection (online catalog) includes works by American authors, and features significant holdings in American history and civilization, American literature and literary criticism, American artists, and general aspects of American culture and society, as well as international relations. Members have the right to access and to use the electronic resources for a personal research and study purpose.  The Interlibrary Loan service is available to all members.

Archives

The ARCHIVES hold the records documenting the history of our institution from its inception, in 1918, until the present days. More than 190 folders illustrate the activities of the former Associazione Italo-Americana and Centro Italiano di Studi Americani during the interwar period (1919-1945) and after the WWII. In 1963 a new Centro Studi Americani has been established and this institution continues its own cultural activity until the present day.

The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities declared the archive to be of national historical interest in 1999.

The reorganization of the archive is currently in progress.
